This rock is practically square. The reason I chose it, is it has some of the color changes I like and some white lines too. Measures approxiamtely 1 3/4".

I found this rock just outside of the display building where I had some paintings today. I looked down adn since it was round I picked it up. When I brought it home to examine, I noticed some silver paint on it -- hand-placed ....wonder if someone at the art show had used it for something. Measures approximately 1 3/4".

I bought this rock for free with purchase of other items at a yard sale today. It has a splendid variety of translucent portions. Very jagged. Measures approxiamtely 2 1/2".

Looks like a little bird's egg. Grainy gray. Measues approximately the size of a little bird egg - oh, say, a Robin perhaps.

I love round but I also love oval. This is a pitted pink oval rock. Measures approximately 1 1/4" as the crow flies. Or seagull.

I buy and sell buttons. When I am describing some of the more outlandish ones from the 50's, I often find I am saying they are "funky chunky" because..well, because they ARE. This rock is not too funky but it is VERY chunky. Measures approximately 1 3/4" x 2"

There are a lot of little smooth stones that look like jelly beans. I wonder if the sea polished this or someone polished it in a huge rock polisher somewhere in a galaxy far, far away. Measures approximately 5/8".

Looks like a yummy popcorn flavored jellybean to me....but it might be an agate. This sweetie measures approximately 1 1/2".

If I were to paint this rock, or to put a hole in it to create a pendant, it would have to be a Tiki. Measures approximately 1 7/8".

Rock 183 ~ Crawling Out from Under the Winter Weeds ~ Claremont CA ~ January 21 2016

Today I got outside into the front garden and pulled winter weeds and clipped back leggy shrubs. I love this kind of work. I always forget that I will be surprised by what has been covered over..I found all sorts of treasures in my own yard! Including this rock....measures approximately 1 1/2".

This is a find! I was walking along the track at the local college and admiring the blue surface. To the side are rocks that got in the way when the painting was done...and I plucked one for this day's post!

This is a red rock that has that circle that reminds me of a toe line on a sock. This one has both white and gray streaks. Measures approximately 1 1/2".

I go to a store called "Treasures n Junk" to look for treasures. I bought this rock on sale there, one of many many painted heads on rocks....but the question is: Which is it? Treasure...or....?

This is a lovely large rock that has a very wide stripe. It is a large and heavy rock, measuring approximately 4 inches.

I found this on my way to the gym. I think it looks like an overgrown pitted piece of chewing gum, but I try not to think of it that way. Measures approximately 2 3/8". 

Rock 175 ~ Quartzy ~ Riverside CA ~ January 13, 2016

I found this along a pond area in Riverside. A large pond. A small lake. Lots of geese, lots of ducks, lots of coot-like birds, lots of people. It seemed like it might even be a native rock. I dug it out of the bank and washed it and there are still a few grass stains on one side. Measures approximately 2".

I was going to just post this as an ugly rock. I figured why beat around the bush. Then I saw it: gold. This rock has gold flecks. I am quite sure it is real gold. You can see the flecks yourself in my rock-u-graphs. It is another lesson from a rock. Measures approx 2 kt.

Rock 173 ~ Half 'n' Half Rock ~ Cambria CA January 11 2016

I literally dug this rock out of the clay. It was showing just the top with the two tones on it -- cream and green -- and I had to pluck it. I tried using various tools to get it out, but that clay was really stiff stuff. Finally got it and here it is! It is quite round so it measures approximately 3 1/2" girth.

I found this rock while walking with my friend Jerry. We hadn't gotten together in a long time and I so enjoy our walks. I need to remember to make the effort more often to keep in touch with people. Our friendship is rock solid. Measures approximately 25 years.

This little rock is such a sweetie-pie. It is a light green with a streak of white and some worn areas. It is smooth and small -- approxiamtely 1 1/4" long. I love this one.
