Rock 252 ~ Another Iron Rock? ~ Claremont CA March 31 2016

I found another very heavy rock that feels and looks like it has a lot of iron in it. It does not have the flecks the previous one has, but it is similar. I need to research the area here to see what we are walking on. Measures approx 2 inches.

This is a very unusual and very old rock. It is solid and has lots of iron in it. I am wondering if it was an early tool. A favorite rock. Measures approx 1 3/4".

Someone must have planted this in my garden for me. I do not remember picking it up. It is a wonderful light gray rock in the shape of a heart. Aw. Measures approx 1 5/8".

This sea stone looks like the shape of an egg, although it is quite a bit flatter. Measures approximately 1 1/2".

I celebrate Easter by meeting with my family for games and camaraderie. My cousin Jerelyn gave me this rock to post. I think it is the size of a medium large egg. 

Rock 247 ~ Stained Purple Rock ~ Pacific Grove CA ~ March 26 2016

This may be the most beauitful rock I have ever found. It is stained purple in places where the little sea creature known as Sailors in the Wind have landed on it and died. It is very sparkly and beautiful. Measures approximately 4 1/2".

Pacific Grove is known as the Buttferfly town. In specific, the Monarch is the butterfly. I found this hand painted rock today in Pacific grove. Measures approximately 5". 

ROck 245 ~ 2 Hole Rock ~ March 24 2016, Cambria CA

I was lucky to find this rock with holes where creatures had once lived. It is a large rock, measuring approximately 4".

This is the first rock I was attracted to on the shore today, as I gazed at hundreds. I like the double ring. Measures approximately 1 1/4".

Rock 243 ~ Potato Rock ~ March 22 2016 ~ Claremont CA

Claremont is known for it's "Claremont potatoes" ...the rocks that re familiar in every yard and garden. I found a nice sized one. My philosophy is "when Life hands you potatoes, make salad." Or something like that. Measures the size of a good baker: approx 5 inches.

This is a birthday rock I made as a celebration for my birthday and for rocks. Measures approximately 3/4" shorter than a standard birthday cake candle.

As soon as I saw this I knew: it is the perfect rock. I love the cragginess of it, the many many sparkles, and the shape. I love this rock. It is just a bit larger than a ping pong ball, AND could smash one in a second if tried.

So, why are these two items posted together? Well there are many reasons:

1. I obtained both on the same day (today).
2. I am very fond of both of them.
3. They both have some black on them.

Three reasons are good enough, though I might be able to find more. Rock is approximately the size of the space beneath the dog on wheels. The dog on wheels is approximately 2 1/4" tall and its head looks more like a goat than a dog.

When I looked carefully at the face of this rock, I spotted two identical round bits that are like eyes. Measures approximately 1 3/4".

I could use this rock in a small dish to see rain water levels. It looks like it has done that before. Measures approximately 3/4" tall. So the water would have to be pretty shallow - no problem here in Southern California.

This is a rock from my beach stone stash. It is also a little late...I was at a City Meeting that lasted until almost midnight! Beware the Ides of March...and all that. This rock is approximately 1 3/4".

This is a bold rock, but it is also fragile in its way: it has a deep crack or two already and I can easily pull off bits of it. Measures approximately 5 keys on a keyboard.

Back in Southern California, the rocks all tend to look alike (I apologize to the rocks as individuals for saying so). This is a speckled rock, found on a walk, which I dearly enjoy in this area. It is approximately 1 5/8".

This is another sweet little beach rock that is oval and light gray. It is approximately 1 inch.

I could not believe the color, so I paid the dollar and bought it at an antique store. I marked the wrong date on it as I got confused. Measures approximately 1 1/4".

I fell in love witht his little heart rock as soon as I spied it. I was rock-hunting on the cliffs...and there it was as I was about to leave. Sweet and measures approx 3/4".

This is a true beach rock. It is rough like sand. It is as cute as a button! Measures approximately 1".

This rock is a raw meat red with white veins. it would be a nice little chunk for a stew.  If only it were edible. Measures approximately 1 3/4".
