Rock 131 ~ Lavable Rock ~ Quartzite AZ November 30 2015

Another rock from just outside of Quartzite thanks to friend Holly. This is a lava-like material -- very hole-y and light weight. It is loveable as well as lava, hence....Measures approximately 1 1/2". It leaves a small bit of grain behind wherever it is placed, as well.

Rock 130 ~ Deer Hoof Rock ~ November 29 2015 ~ Quartzite AZ

I requested that Holly bring me some interesting rocks of her choice from Arizona. She did! This one looks like a deer's hoof. She selected it because she liked its color. When she flipped it over there was the heart shape -- which I think looks like the deer hoof. She found it just outside of Quartzite and brought it to me today...along with my next two posts...Measures approximately the size of a deer hoof..

Rock 129 ~ The Streaker ~ Claremont CA Nov 28 2015

This rock's white lines look like streaks. They are probably remnants of shell fossil and this is a beach rock. It would be a good skipping stone too.
It measures approximately 2 1/4".

Rock 128 ~ Bite-Size Rock ~ November 27 2015 ~ Claremont CA

I'd say this is bite-sized if it is some foods -- like a bite muffin or mashed potato. It might be too small for a bite of pie or a bite of steak. It depends upon your bite of course. Measures approximately the size of a bite of Sees' candy chocolate -- preferable the Bordeaux. (Consider that a hint).

Rock 125 ~ Green, Red, and White Rock ~ Claremont CA November 24 2015

I love this color rock: it is a pale pale green with some reddish brown lines through it and some white crackles in it as well. I wonder what it is made of. It measures approximately 1 1/2".

Rock 124 ~ On Blue ~ November 23 2015, Claremont CA

Sometimes it is all in the presentation. This rock is indeed pretty, but setting it on the deep blue background and isolating it from its habitat makes it look special. It's a shame to say that, really, isn't it? Isn't everything truly more beautiful in its home context? Hm.

Rock 123 ~ Flattened Ends Rock ~ November 22 2015

This is a true Claremont rock. It has some flat worn ends on it that made it somewhat interesting. Measures approximately 1 1/2". \\

Rock 122 ~ Galaxy Rock ~ Claremont CA November 21 2015

This is one of the gift stones in my sea-glass garden left by a friend the other day. It is so smooth. The white blurs across the dark gray look like a galaxy in motion. Measures approximately 1 3/4" across.

Rock 121 ~ Map Rock ~ November 20 2015 ~ Claremont CA

This veining reminds me of a road map. I wonder where I could find this exact duplicate of road configurations on a map. Rock measures approximately 2". The truer color is the first photograph.

Rock 120 ~ Stone Cold ~ Claremont CA ~ Nov 19 2015

I caught a friend of mine putting several unusual rocks into my little sea glass fairway in my yard yesterday. I was torn: do I thank him for the rocks, or do I move them because I like just the sea glass there?
I left them.
Tonight I realized I hadn't chosen a rock of the day, so I went out and blindly picked one of these gift stones. I picked it up and yikes: it was really cold! But I do love Winter nights.... Measures approx 2 1/2".

Rock 119 ~ Gray Rock ~ November 18 2015 ~ Claremont CA

This is a plain rock, but something about it appeals to me. It is a lovely gray and is unpretentious but dignified. Measures approximately 1 5/8".

Rock 117 ~ Button Rock ~ Nov 16 2015 ~ Claremont CA

I collect those little fasteners known simply as "buttons" and there are many different materials used to create them. There are even stone buttons. November 16th is National Button Day, so I created a rock button for the post today. I simply glued on a bit of a celluloid shank from a broken button onto the small rock. It measures approx 3/4". HAPPY NATIONAL BUTTON DAY!

Rock 115 ~ Rock Solid ~ solide comme un roc ~ Nov 14 2015 ~ Claremont CA

My thoughts, as are many people's world-wide today, are with Paris. I am grateful for the rock solid support  - the solidarity - many nations show for France.
Today's rock looks strong, looks solid. Although it is such a tiny tribute to the bravery and fortitude I am witnessing, we do have diversity in our expressions of hope, sadness, anger, and strength. My selection for today is one way I can share my feelings of hopeful solidarity.
Rock measures approx 5627.238 miles...this is the distance from my zip code to Paris.

Rosk 114 ~ Pilgrim Rock ~ Claremont CA Nov 13 2015

I bought this rock for 50 cents at a fundraiser event called Pilgrim Place Festival. It is adorable. Very heavy, and measures approx 4 3/8".

Rock 113 ~ Green Cheese Rock ~ Cambria CA ~ November 12 2015

It really looks like green cheese. It is very light weight -- probably lighter than green cheese would be. In fact it weighs approximately 1.6 ounces according to my desktop postage scale! Measures approx 1 'n' 7/8".

Rock 112 ~ Modeling Rock ~ Cambria CA Nov 11 2015

Oh was a gorgeous day to look for rocks. I found this lovely roundish rough one and decided to have a photog session with it. So here are the photos we liked best:

Here are the docu-rock photos:

Rock measures approximately 1 1/2". And here is the rock that these may have come from (the parents, as it were):
