Rock 341 ~ See Through Green ~ June 30 2016 ~ Cambria CA

Mu friend Susan posted a photo of a rock she held up to the light and it was a see-through. So I have been doing this too. Today's post is a see-through green. Measures approximately 3/4".

Rock 340 ~ Hard Edge Abstract Art Rock ~ June 29 2016 ~ Cambria CA

This little smooth stone has quite the pattern on it -- as if someone had atped it and then painted it two colors. Measures approximately 7/8". 
Note: the wallpaper background is by Gretchen Butler. It is a card of her painting she sent me that I received in the mail today. It is of a wild mustard plant. I love it.

When I looked closely at this rock, I saw the letter "A" carved into it. really. I wonder how it got there. Measures approximately 1 3/8".

This lovely smooth stone is the shape of a very large legume....a large lima bean in fact. Measures approx 1 3/8".

I made plum jam today with plums from my own tree. It is delicious. It is a no pectin recipe and was tres easy. What does this have to do with rocks? A plum is a stone fruit. Measures about the size of a large plum.

I almost think this is something other than stone, because it is very light. Maybe a petrified egg. But no, it is a rock. And it measures approximately 1 1/4".

I took a photo of the Morro Rock giant in the background of this rock I found on the beach far away but still within the area. I could not take the large Morro Rock home, but I could take this one to post. Measures approx 2 1/4".

Big rock black and white. Very pretty. There was a large assortment of all different types, but today this one spoke to me. In a whisper, "pick me!" Measures approx 3 1/2".

Today is the first day of summer, so I selected a rock that is as round as the sun. Measures approx 1" diameter.

This is an unusual rock to have found in the place where I was rockhounding today -- a beach full of tiny round worn gems. And then this hunky iron man. Measures approx 2 1/2".

I just get a feeling that this rock is ancient. I have no idea what it is or what the age is, but it has a sense about it.

I consider this kind of kitch as folk art. I love to find altered rocks like this. This one has such a thick grin. Grin is approx 1/4 of a circle on a 2" round rock.

This is a neat small rock that is very green and is practically square. It has eaten away places on reverse -- perhaps some animal who lived there. Measures approx 7/8".

This is a bone white rock with some lines and color here and there within it. It is the shape of a larger animal's tooth -- maybe a deer size. Measures approximately 7/8". 

ROCK 325 ~ Flag Day is a Butterfly Rock ~ June 14 2016 ~ Cambria CA

Today is Flag Day. It is also Aunt Rosalie' birthday. She has transformed from human into thin air...so this is a symbol of her life and passing. I don't know what a butterfly has to do with Flag Day but may they both flutter.... If you catch my drift. Measures mounds of love and 1 inch long.

A friend recently showed me a site with rocks that had white striations that formed the alphabet. I will look for some. This rock, however, cannot qualify -- I tried to find a letter in it, but truly it is a script I do not know....Measures approx 1 1/4".

This looks like a miniature boulder to me. It has tiny striations and a big look. Measures approximately 6.6 pounds.

So many white bands across this red rock that it looks like a freeway of roads. Measures approximately 3".

Rock 321 ~ Golden Yellow ~ June 10, 2016 ~ San Simeon, CA

This rock is the loveliest of ochre yellows. It has some lacy edges within as well. It is approximately 1 inch.

This rock is as white as snow except for a black lightening bolt and its consequent storm clouds. Measures approx 1 1/4".

This rock has a nice translucent green color and a bit of purple in the crack. It is fascinating. It could be used as a plug. Measures approximately 2 1/4" long.

I expect this sort of rock when I am elsewhere, but I did not expecct to find it on the beachwith the other beachrocks. It is so pretty! Measures approx 2 1/2" long.
