Today I visited the park in Los Alamos that is named for my grandfather. I thought it would be nice to collect a rock from the park.

There were many different types of rocks and most look like they had been imported for landscaping. This one was in the dirt, so I chose it, thinking perhaps it grew up there.
I like the pinkish tinge on it as well.
Measures approximately 1 5/8" long.
